Have any of you ever read or listened to the Lamplighter books? I love the audio book A Peep Behind the Scenes. Here is the link to the website. You can listen to portions of their audio books on there too. I love that their mission is to: "make ready a people prepared for the Lord, by building Christ-like character one story at a time.”

A Quote

“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

I love Laura Ingalls Wilder don't you? I've read her little house books and have watched the shows. A friend from church and I always laugh at how funny they make Mrs. Oleson. My favorite shows are Here comes the Brides and Come, Let Us reason together and tons of others. My favorite book is Little Town on the Prairie. The Bible Bee officially starts Monday but they released the materials Wednesday so Morgan wanted to start memorizing early. The good thing about having a blog you share is that when one of you takes a blogging break you still have the other one!=). I hope you have a great weekend!

The Anne-Girl

The Anne of Green Gables novels have recently become some of my favorite books. They make me laugh at Anne's funny sayings and messes she gets into. I have recently started the second book and can't wait to continue reading more of them. After I finish them though I would like to read "The Story Girl". Here is one of my favorite quotes from the Anne-girl.

And I promise I'll never do it again. That's the one good thing about me. I never do the same wrong thing twice. ~Anne Shirley. Anne spelled with an e.

Tornadoes in the South

This past Tuesday we heard that there would be bad storms and possibly tornadoes in our area. We didn't really think that there would be tornadoes just some bad storms. But on Wednesday 3 rounds of tornadoes hit in our town and many towns around us. The first was in the morning around 6 or 7 ( we didn't know there was because we slept through it. Well, the second round was scheduled to come at two or three o'clock but we really didn't think there would be one because the sun came out and it looked like a normal spring day. Again we were wrong. Around 2:15 the sky started getting dark-fast and the wind was blowing really hard. So my family (except dad) crammed into a closet because we don't have a basement. Right after we got in (I don't mine telling y'all that I was really freaking out) it started hailing outside and then there was a huge crash of thunder. Thankfully we did not have a tornado around our house we think it was just
straight winds. Mama went to look out of the closet and then came back in and told us there was a tree laying on our deck and she didn't want us to come out because she thought it might fall through the roof. Well, our neighbor came over and checked on us because he knew that the tree had hit the house . That big sound of thunder we think must have been the tree falling. We are so thankful to God that no one got hurt in our family. Daddy came home right after that and everyone felt a lot better. We thought that the tornadoes were over. At that time we still had power so we looked on the computer and our weather man said we still had one more round. So at about 8:00 we headed to the closet again but it only hailed and was very windy on our side of town the southern part of town was not like that it had at least 2 tornadoes touch down where my grandmas house was destroyed. Please pray for my grandma on my mothers side. Her whole house was lifted from her foundation and thrown on its side. Thankfully she was not there (my aunt came to get her just a hour before)but her whole house is gone. She had been renting the house for many years and lost all of her belongings. On Friday mid afternoon the power came back on and some people from local churches helped us clear away the tree. Today Habitat for Humanity came to help us. The pictures below are of the tree that uprooted in our neighbors backyard.

Also pray for the family with 13 children who lost a husband and dad because of the tornado in Alabama. You can read the story HERE. As far as I know 9 people have died in our town.

Please pray for the areas that were affected by these storms in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.

Have a Great Easter Sunday!!

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today.

Here is the story behind the song of Christ the Lord is Risen Today.

John and Charles Wesley found themselves without favor of many fellow Anglican ministers who did not care for their fiery evangelistic preaching. Many pulpits were closed to them.

A friend from his Oxford days, George Whitefield,(22), having the same trouble, began preaching in the open air at Blackheath, and Charles, too, got a vision for reaching multitudes. He made his first attempt in the outskirts of London. "Franklyn, a farmer, invited me to preach in his field," he wrote. "I did so to about 500. I returned to the house rejoicing." Soon he was preaching to thousands. "My load was gone, and all my doubts and scruples. God shone upon my path and I knew this was all concerning me."

A man named Joseph Williams heard Charles in Bristol: " I found him standing on a table table-board, in a erect posture...surrounded by, I guess, more than a thousand people, some of them fashionable persons, but most of the lower rank of mankind. He prayed with uncommon fervency... He then preached about half an hour in such a manor as I have scarce ever heard any man preach... I think I never heard any man labor so earnestly to convince his hearers that they were all by natural in a sinful undone state; that their was a possibility 0f their salvation through faith with Christ... All this he backed up with many text of scripture which he explained and illustrated and then by a variety of the most forcibly motives arguments, he did invite, quicken and labor, if it were possible, to compel all, and every one of his hearers to believe in Christ for salvation." Charles Wesly still preaches in much the same way, through his ageless hymns that are sung around the world each week. Perhaps his most exuberant anthem he simply calls "Hymn for Easter Day", published in 1739. It originally consisted of eleven stanzas. The "Alleluias" were added later, but appropriately, for this hymn no one gets tired of singing......

Christ, the Lord, is risen today, Alleluia!

Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!

Sing, ye heavens, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

May Resurrection day be enjoyed with your friends and family as we celebrate our risen Savior the Lord Jesus Christ!!!!

Have a great Easter Sunday!!!

A Thought For Your Thursday

"Work is a blessing. [YES! A BLESSING!] God has so arranged the world that work is necessary, and He gives us hands and strength to do it. The enjoyment of leisure would be nothing if we had only leisure. It is the joy of work well done that enables us to enjoy rest, just as it is the experiences of hunger and thirst that make food and drink such pleasures." - Elisabeth Elliot

This is my Father's world

I love this song so I wanted to share the story behind it. I hope ya'll like it.

This is My Father's World
Maltbie Babcock was arguably the most remarkable student Syracuse University had ever seen. He was a bright scholar, Outstanding athlete, expert swimmer, played several instruments, and composed many songs, on the side he was an avid fisherman. He would have been successful in any profession, but God called him to the ministry ; and after further training at Auburn Theological Seminary, he became pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Lockport, New York. A beautiful area between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, not far from Niagara Falls- and Maltbie enjoyed hiking and running in the hills outside of town. Telling his secretary, "I'm going out to see my father's world", he would hike or run a couple of miles into the countryside where he would lose himself in nature. During is pastorate at Lockport that he wrote a sixteen-stanza poem, each verse beginning with the words "This is my Fathers world".
Maltbie was called in 1886 to the Brown Memorial Churn in Baltimore. While there, he traveled widely and was in great demand on college campuses. He was and engaging speaker who never failed to stimulate his students. In 1899 he moved to the Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City. Here he found it more difficulty to take off on his hikes. When he was forty-two, his church presented him with a spiritual gift-a pilgrim-age to the Holy Land. With great excitement, Maltbie departed by ship. While en route at Naples, Italy, he was seized with a deadly bacterial infection fever and died at the International Hospital on May 18, 1901.
After his death, his wife wife compiled his writings into a book called Thoughts for Everyday Living, published in 1901. Included was Malbie's "This is My Father's world".

Have a wonderful Sunday!
